England Legends and West Indies Legends take on a head-to-head in match 9 of Road Safety World Series 2022. With a seven-wicket defeat against Sri Lanka Legends, England Legends began their Road Safety World Series campaign on a losing note. A ball was never bowled during their second match against South Africa Legends, which gave them an opportunity to open their account and open the tournament. As the competition draws nearer, England Legends will be under pressure to keep their hopes alive against West Indies. Meanwhile, the West Indies Legends started the season strongly. After losing their first match by six wickets, they defeated the Bangladesh Legends through and through. As a bowling unit, the bowlers knocked over Bangladesh Legends with 98 in their first match. The 16th over was scored by Dwayne Smith, who hit a half-century at the top of the order to help them chase down the total. It was a great game between England Legends vs West Indies Legends, Players from both teams shows of high quality in playing. As the England Legends bowlers came out all guns blazing from the word go, Dwayne Smith and William Perkins failed to settle into a rhythm. It was too late for the England Legends to recover from that onslaught. 30 runs were scored off the first two overs. A player like Smith, in particular, seemed to have a lot of experience batting in this format.

It was a charmed game as Smith made light work of the target, with none of the English bowlers being able to stop him. A big shot after another kept being connected by him as he kept trying to make the big play. On his way to a well-deserved half-century, William Perkins played some incredible baseball as well. In the powerplay itself, West Indies already had the match wrapped up and just needed to bat sensibly from then on. A total of 73 runs, including nine fours and three sixes, was eventually made by Smith after 42 balls.

During the match, Brian Lara came out to the crease and launched a shot down the ground that sailed over the long-on fence amidst loud cheers from the crowd. There is great bat flow on this ball as it sails over the long-on fence with ease.
