The 18th game of the Big Bash League 2022–23 will feature Brisbane Heat vs. Sydney Thunder. The Brisbane Heat are the team that is desperately trying to move forward in this situation as they are currently languishing at the bottom of the standings with the worst net run-rate in the competition and just one win. The Heat's lone victory came over the Adelaide Strikers, but they were soundly defeated by the Thunder in their final match. A rematch of that game will take place in this one as Heat tries to maintain its honor and level the score. These two teams recently convened. Heat chose to bat first after winning the toss.
They were three goals down shortly after the power play, but the duo of Colin Munro and Jimmy Peirson helped them right the ship, and Xavier Bartlett's final flurry made sure they put up a respectable total on the board, but it was never going to be enough. With Matthew Gilkes and Alex Hales going ballistic from the first ball, Sydney Thunder made a mockery of that run chase by chasing it down in just 11.4 overs. This prevented the Heat from having any chance of making a comeback in the game. Through this crucial two-point victory, the Thunder gained crucial ground on the Melbourne Renegades and maintained their position of sixth place in the standings. The Thunder, however, are the team with the advantage in this game, so the Heat must improve in every area if they hope to remain in the tournament.
Brisbane Heat vs Sydney Thunder
Sydney Thunder won by 11 runs
Munro scored 98, but Brisbane still come up short. Until James Bazley showed up to help him, the New Zealander fought alone. Munro was left in charge after the other members of the top order failed. Munro, however, was in an explosive mood and dragged the bowlers all over the park. The pair grew closer while Bazley offered support before Bazley was out by Usman Qadir's LBW. But Munro persisted, and it wasn't until he attempted to clear deep mid-wicket in the final over that he was dismissed. McAndrew maintained his composure to win the game after that.
Following the Heat's successful takedown of the Power Surge, Chris Green and Usman Qadir's middle overs in which they stopped a boundary from being hit proved to be crucial for the Thunder. The Heat would have won easily if someone had stood up for Munro. As they move up the table, the Thunder, who have now defeated the Heat twice this year, are doing so. However, with just one victory, the Heat continue to be last. In this match Sydney Thunder show’s more braveness and won this match by 11 runs.
