Big Bash League 2022-23 Match 11

Big Bash League 2022-23 Match 11 by 11ic

The Hobart Hurricanes and the Sydney Sixers will set the stage for a fierce battle in Big Bash League 2022–23's 11th game. Sydney Sixers have fallen short of expectations thus far, having lost both games and currently occupying last place. Prior to this match, the Scorchers' batting had been a concern for their bowlers, who had performed admirably against them. While Kurtis Patterson, Josh Phillipe's partner, lost both games with a single-digit score, despite high expectations, Josh Phillipe has yet to perform at his peak level. James Vince being asked to open the batting alongside Phillippe won't come as a huge surprise.

The Hurricanes, on the contrary, lost their first game to a thrashing by the Melbourne Stars but came back strongly to defeat the Perth Scorchers in their subsequent game. There will be a lot of competition between their batters and Sydney Sixers' bowlers because of their star-studded batting lineup and availability of so many power hitters. The Sixers' season would get off to a good start with a victory in front of their home crowd, but they are aware that they are up against one of the tournament favorites. There is a sizable capacity crowd supporting the Sixers as SCG is hosting its first BBL game.

Hobart Hurricanes vs Sydney Sixers

Sydney Sixers won by 6 runs

Although the Hurricanes made an effort to lower this total, their game was effectively over after the first three overs. Despite the best efforts of their openers D'Arcy Short and Ben McDermott, nobody else assumed the burden of bringing them in after they left. When they batted compared to when the Sixers did, it seemed like the pitch was a little slower. The pitch appeared calm and persistent during the latter innings, but all of a sudden, in the second innings, it appeared to slow down a bit. Sean Abbott, Naveen-ul-Haq, and Hayden Kerr, among others, all bowled with an intensity that their skipper Moises Henriques will be very proud of. The Sixers' bowlers also deserve praise.

Matthew Wade, Jimmy Neesham, and Tim David, three of the Hurricanes' lineup's main offensive threats, simply struggled to find their groove, which severely hurt their team's chances. Even with a few lusty hits to keep his team in the game from late-order batter Asif Ali, the Hurricanes couldn't handle the demand. Despite being seriously threatened by Asif Ali near the end of the game, the Sixers will gain a lot of confidence from this victory.

Hobart Hurricanes - Tim David, Faheem Ashraf, Nathan Ellis, Shadab Khan, Caleb Jewell, Ben McDermott, Mac Wright, Asif Ali, Riley Meredith, Joel Paris, Mitch Owen, Wil Parker, Matthew Wade, D'Arcy Short, Billy Stanlake, Chris Tremain, Paddy Dooley.
