With 18 points each at the conclusion of the Bangladesh Premier league stage, Sylhet Strikers and Comilla Victorians respectively took first and second place on the points table. As a result, both of these franchises will now have a second opportunity to advance to the finals, though winning the first qualifier will remain their primary objective.
The team's nine victories in their last 12 league games have come in Sylhet. In their most recent match, Mashrafe Mortaza's team won by six wickets thanks to a strong performance from their bowlers. With Tanzim Hasan Sakib taking three wickets, they bowled first and limited Khulna to just 113 runs, at the same time Imad Wasim and Rubel Hossain each won two. While Zakir Hasan scored a half-century with the bat, Mushfiqur Rahim scored 39 runs off 35 deliveries as a stumper. Sylhet may eventually advance to the finals if they are able to repeat their previous performance.
The league leaders will not, however, find it easy against the Comilla Victorians team. They secured their ranking at number two by defeating Rangpur Riders by 70 runs in their most recent game. While Mustafizur Rahman took three wickets with the ball, Litton Das and Khusdil Shah played some wonderful cricket with the bat (47 off 33 deliveries and 40* off 20 deliveries, respectively). The squad would be optimistic about their opportunities in the first qualifier because they appear to be very strong on paper.
Sylhet Strikers vs Comilla Victorians
In a game that was on the line, Sylhet Strikers failed to show up with the bat. They performed horribly, scoring only 125 points. Although they had good bowling in the Powerplay, taking three wickets, managing runs is just as crucial in a low chase. The pitch was offering good turn and bounce, and there were a few fielding errors, but there weren't enough runs scored to put the game away. Sylhet Strikers now have to take the longer route after missing the ideal opportunity for a direct entry into the final.
Comilla Victorians have in the end gone too far, but it took a little extra work. They bowled with precision to limit Sylhet Strikers to a meager total, and their top rank then aggressively attacked the chase. After the Powerplay, which saw 58 runs scored, it used to be just a matter of performing reasonable cricket. Despite losing a few wickets, Mosaddek Hossain and Moeen Ali completed the race to the complete line and earned a spot in the championship game.
Qualifier Round of The Bangladesh Premier League 2023 happened at The Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
